Banca Sella ha completato l’iter di notifica a Banca d’Italia previsto dal regolamento europeo MiCA (“Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation”) ed è la prima banca in Italia a poter avviare servizi di cripto-attività, relativi in particolare a custodia e trasferimento di asset digitali.

L’ammissione tra i prestatori di servizi per le cripto-attività consentirà a Sella di lanciare, nel corso del 2026, una soluzione dedicata alla custodia, all’invio e alla ricezione degli asset digitali, rivolta a specifiche tipologie di clienti.

L’iniziativa, grazie alla quale il settore bancario italiano si affianca a quelli europei e globali già attivi in questo ambito, nasce dal percorso di innovazione avviato da Sella con la partecipazione alla sperimentazione promossa nel 2022 dal Fintech Milano Hub di Banca d’Italia sulla tecnologia a registro distribuito (Distributed Ledger Technology o DLT). Sella, dopo aver creato al proprio interno un team specializzato in DLT & Digital Assets, è tra i fondatori di Qivalis, il consorzio composto da 37 banche europee che emetterà entro l’anno una stablecoin denominata in euro, e continua a seguire con attenzione gli sviluppi strategici nella tokenizzazione dei depositi e nei pagamenti dell’Eurosistema (progetti Pontes e Appia).

“L’evoluzione dei pagamenti verso modelli istantanei, interoperabili e programmabili, favorita anche dalla tokenizzazione della moneta e degli asset – ha detto Andrea Tessera, Managing Director Digital Banking di Banca Sella – sta ridefinendo le infrastrutture finanziarie a livello europeo e globale. Il nuovo servizio di Banca Sella si inserisce in questo scenario e consentirà di contribuire concretamente a tale trasformazione, sia con un approccio sistemico, sia con la proposta di soluzioni innovative sviluppate per rispondere in modo efficace alle nuove esigenze dei clienti con soluzioni finanziarie sempre più efficienti e sicure.
Negli ultimi anni, abbiamo investito nell’infrastruttura tecnologica e nello sviluppo di competenze in ambito DLT e asset digitali, riconoscendo il loro potenziale nell’evoluzione dei sistemi di pagamento e di regolamento.
