L’esploratore visionario e controcorrente. È la figura di Vittorio Sella raccontata nel film “A Thousand Words” sostenuto da gruppo Sella e Fondazione Sella. Un viaggio che inizia da una foto iconica e passata alla storia, quella scattata da Sella il 13 ottobre 1999 e che ritrae le vette dell’Himalaya. Il primo scatto fatto al mondo.

"Qual è la tua vetta? Quale percorso – difficile, arduo, vero – sei disposto a scegliere per raggiungerla?" La risposta non è scritta da nessuna parte. Si trova nella prossima immagine che deciderai di scattare. Nella prossima meraviglia che sceglierai di seguire. Nella prossima avventura che avrai il coraggio di vivere. Quel coraggio che ha reso Vittorio Sella un uomo capace di fermare il cielo e un visionario capace di ricominciare da capo. Nel film tutto parte dal club Alpino di Londra. Due uomini e una fotografia di grande formato: montagne scolpite come sculture, un cielo che sembra sospeso, in attesa che qualcuno lo guardi davvero. Su un angolo di carta ingiallita, la firma di Vittorio Sella. È in quel momento, in quella stanza, che nasce “A Thousand Words” che riflette sulla figura di Vittorio Sella come fotografo, alpinista e innovatore impegnato a creare immagini autentiche, qualcosa di reale e preciso, per dare vita all'ispirazione che provava in quei paesaggi montani.

Un messaggio ancora più contemporaneo in una fase storica segnata dall’abbondanza di immagini false, ritoccate o create con l'intelligenza artificiale. E allora, come possiamo rimanere connessi a ciò che è reale e autentico, come ha sempre fatto Vittorio Sella? E come rappresenta l’opera fotografica passata alla storia di Vittorio Sella?
