Sarà inaugurata sabato 31 maggio alle 18.30 presso la sala mostre del Lanificio Maurizio Sella, la mostra “K2, una storia lunga cent'anni”. L'evento fa parte della rassegna biennale “Viaggio. Orizzonti, frontiere, generazioni”, promossa da Stilelibero, che si tiene dal 30 maggio al 14 settembre 2025 a Biella Piazzo, nei due complessi storici di Palazzo Ferrero e Palazzo Gromo Losa, e per la prima volta anche nei locali della Fondazione Sella. Il Festival si propone come un laboratorio di idee, un'occasione di dialogo in cui persone e luoghi si riscoprono attraverso nuove prospettive, un incontro tra viaggio e arte con lo scopo di oltrepassare i confini sociali, geografici e culturali.   

Nella mostra al Lanificio Maurizio Sella saranno esposte le fotografie della spedizione 2024 del CAI Biella al K2, a 70 anni dalla storica conquista. Completeranno il racconto le immagini scattate da Vittorio Sella nel 1909 durante la spedizione del Duca degli Abruzzi e quelle dell’ascensione vittoriosa del 1954. Una sezione sarà dedicata agli scatti di Pietro Sella ripresi dagli stessi punti di Vittorio Sella: il confronto tra immagini antiche e attuali è un'importante testimonianza del cambiamento dei ghiacciai nell’arco di più di cento anni.   

Sempre il 31 maggio, alle 20.30, presso l’auditorium del Lanificio Maurizio Sella, verrà proiettato il filmato Karakorum² del regista Yuri Palma, dedicato alla spedizione, commentato da Gian Luca Cavalli, Tommaso Lamantia e Matteo Sella, protagonisti dell’impresa, coronata dalla conquista della vetta da parte di Lamantia.
